Wim Emmerik [the Netherlands, 1940] is a sign poet. He is deeply involved in scientific research into sign language at the Radboud University of Nijmegen and gives workshops on sign poetry. According to Wim Emmerik sign poetry begins with experimenting with gestures and finding more beautiful forms of expression. He has recently worked together with the film-makers Leendert Pot and Anja Hiddinga on the dvd Bewogen (Moved), on which several of his sign poems can be seen. Saturday 18 June, Main Hall, 21.30 hrs.
