John Tranter [Australia, 1943] is one of the most important present-day poets from Australia. He works as a publisher, university lecturer and radio producer and has more than sixteen collections of poetry to his credit. His poetry is diverse as regards form and style. Not infrequently, his poems are a way of ‘writing back’, an answer to other poets and their work, often with a subtle sense of humour. Saturday 18 June, Main Hall, 21.30 hrs.
