Peer Wittenbols [the Netherlands, 1965] was resident writer for the theatre group De Federatie, which has since merged with het Theater van het Oosten to form Toneelgroep Oostpool. Wittenbols is the author of such highly-praised works as Smegma (Smegma), Zog (Mother’s Milk) and Noordeloos (Northless). In 2000, he made his debut as a poet with the collection Slaapschuld (Sleep Guilt), which was nominated for the C. Buddingh’-Prijs. In 2004, his second collection Kop van het hoofd (Top of the Head), appeared, which was nominated for the J.C. Bloemprijs.
